[Mag is just sitting on the sofa to her house (which is weird, because Mr. Dee said it was hers, or it would be, but it didn't seem familiar at all), clutching onto the umbrella she found earlier. She's fairly calm for all that's happened -- yes, she's in a strange place, with no real idea where her Daddy is. But the policemen seemed nice, even if they said weird things. Not like most policemen, anyway.]

Mag nodded, clinging onto his arm with one hand, umbrella still in the other for feeling out the steps. "I'm ready," she said, voice steady.

Dee led her out of the alleyway, making sure to keep her out of the way of oncoming pedestrians as he made it to the front stoop, warning her of the stairs in front of her before leading her up them at her own pace. He keyed the door open, then sighed. The building didn't have an elevator, and he lived on the third floor. "There's gonna be a lot more stairs before we get to my place. You ready to climb, kiddo? After that, what do you want to eat?" he asked, putting a hand on her hand on his arm, hoping his smile shone through in his voice. "I'm not much of a cook, but I'm sure we can manage something."

"I'm ready," Mag said confidently. There had been lots of stairs at her old apartment, too, and she had gotten good at being able to navigate steps. "Would a sandwich maybe be okay?" She figured that wouldn't be too hard or long to make.

"A sandwich?" Dee asked. "Sure thing, kid, we can make you a sandwich. Even I can't mess up making a sandwich, after all," he said, with a smile. He led her to the stairs, warning her of when they were starting, before leading her up them at her own pace. Her using the umbrella as a cane was really impressive, he had to say.

"Hey, just for these few days, would you like me to see if Mother has an old cane lying around somewhere?" he asked Mag. "I mean, it probably won't be as nice as your one you have normally--it'll be used and old, but. It should be better than an umbrella, right?"
