....well.

It's like they made my world into a film. Except with very cheesy dialogue, much less color, and a lot of gunfights and explosions. ...huh.

(( >.> Let's just say some people believe that Repo Men MAYBE JUST A TINY BIT rips off Repo! The Genetic Opera))

The people in charge also seem slightly more sane, but... nothing of value lost there.

I don't know how sane one can really be when your business has a habit of tearing out organs.

Hence why I said 'seem' and not 'are'.

That movie doesn't seem to have you in it either, unless I'm missing something?

Date: 2010-02-18 06:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com
True, I don't seem to be making an appearence. Though I'm not sure they need an opera sequence for an action movie, fun as it would be.

Date: 2010-02-18 07:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gonnabe1st.livejournal.com
Well, you could still show up as a character without them going too deeply into your opera background. But I suppose singers in general don't go as well with the gunfights and action.

Probably not. Unless we're the love interest or the femme fatale working for the villain or a spy o something like that.

From: [identity profile] gonnabe1st.livejournal.com
Yeah. ...Does that movie look anything at all like it's set in your world, from the scenery?

Date: 2010-02-18 08:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com
Not really. Their world is much more...glossy, I guess. Definitely much cleaner.

Date: 2010-02-18 08:45 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gonnabe1st.livejournal.com
It looks kind of like my world, ironically. Not quite, but close.

Date: 2010-02-18 08:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com
Really now? Any of the events in it seem like you world's?

Date: 2010-02-18 08:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gonnabe1st.livejournal.com
No, just the scenery. A little futuristic perhaps, but that's the only big difference.

Date: 2010-02-18 09:19 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com
Ah, so no random explosions and gunfights and other action sequences all over your world? A pity.

Date: 2010-02-18 09:24 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gonnabe1st.livejournal.com
Hah, isn't it just?
No, there weren't terribly many gunfights and explosions and they've even decreased over the past few years, isn't is a shame?

Date: 2010-02-18 09:27 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com
Oh, certainly.

Why would they decrease, though?

Date: 2010-02-18 09:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gonnabe1st.livejournal.com
Oh, that's because someone has been offing criminals, or so they say. It's not like anyone was really murdered, but the bad guys habitually drop dead in my world. Strange, really.

Date: 2010-02-18 09:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com
If they're just dying, why would people think someone's behind it?

Date: 2010-02-18 09:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gonnabe1st.livejournal.com
If they're all criminals and all die of the same cause, regardless of sex, age, heritage, location, anything? I suppose people would think that because there were many deaths within a fairly short time. Of course, heavenly intervention is another interpretation if you believe in that sort of thing.

Date: 2010-02-19 12:04 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com
But how would one person be able to do all that, though?

Date: 2010-02-19 12:16 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gonnabe1st.livejournal.com
Who knows. But now you know why there's so little gunfire and exploding going on in my world.

Date: 2010-02-19 12:25 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com
It certainly sounds like a pretty compelling reason for it.

So, what you're saying is that basically, your world is like that, except it isn't. I'm not sure that I get what you're trying to say, here.

The idea of Repo Men is very much like the Repo Men we have here, and it's the same with the advertisements for organ replacements and eveyone having them. The difference is that our world doesn't look like it does there, and no one really talks that way. And there's a lot less random gunfights.

Interesting. Repossessing someone's organs--that's gotta be one hell of a job.

Sadly, fiction does make everything seem more exciting. Romanticizing the idea, or whatever they say. Very rarely is anything ever actually like what they say in the stories. Of course, sometimes its better, though.

Date: 2010-02-19 03:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com
I imagine so. We have quite a few of them here on my world.

That's true. Things have to be played up for film that wouldn't happen in real life. But I do prefer real life, where there's less random explosions going on.

Real life is a lot more satisfying, usually, I'll give you that. Of course, you can't stop reading or watching and switch stories if you don't like how the plot is working out, though.

I wouldn't say that there were less random explosions in real life. Well, at least not in my life. It's all been kinda exciting, so far.

Date: 2010-02-19 03:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com
That's true, we can't switch stories. Though I wouldn't mind being able to do that with real life sometimes.

Really now? What do you do that has you surrounded by explosions?

You and me both...

Oh, well, you know. Ran a few cons, got on the wrong side of a few dangerous people, tangled with the wrong crowds, slept with some pretty interesting headcases, moved on to work for a top secret organization. The usual.

Date: 2010-02-19 05:27 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com

Hm, no. It's more like my life choices went a little astray, and things ended up being that exciting. Back where I was growing up, when I was a kid and before everything bad and exciting started to happen, it was really sort of calm and peaceful. I can't even remember what times like those are anymore, not really.

Well... One of the most horrific races of anything in this universe came and invaded our colony. You were lucky if they killed you right there and then. My father was lucky in that aspect. My brother, on the other hand, they took him. I wouldn't wish that kind of a thing on anyone. That invasion convinced me to join the Agency, and well, things've been really exciting ever since.

Don't feel too bad for me. It was a long time ago. Long enough that I can't really remember it well on most days, at any rate.

Date: 2010-02-20 03:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com
Even so, that still must have been horrific. I'm sorry to hear that you went through all that, even if you can't remember it well.

What's the Agency?

51stcentury: (smile sunglasses)

Well, yeah. But the past is the past. I try not to dwell on it. Got enough on my plate in the present as it is.

The Time Agency. Used to work as a Time Agent. Then I did a little stint for the RAF, and now I've got my own little Top Secret agency, capital letters and everything.

Captain Jack Harkness, by the way. And who do I have the pleasure of talking with?

I'm Mag. It's nice to meet you.

Well, if you were on our world, I would tell you that that was classified information, and let it be. But, seeing as this community is just something else, I can safely say that we're Torchwood. Basically, an organization that monitors a rift in space and time in the middle of Cardiff city--we find what comes out, and see whether it's dangerous or not. No control over what goes in from this side, though, unfortunately.

Mag, huh? Well, it's a pleasure. Is that short for something, or is it just Mag?

Date: 2010-02-20 08:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com
How can you monitor time and space?

Thank you. It is, it's short for Magdalene.

51stcentury: (smile)
From: [personal profile] 51stcentury
Well... Not exactly. We can monitor whatever comes through time and space to this planet. Anything else is someone else's job. We're kind of stationary, centered mainly on the Rift here in Cardiff.

Magdalene? That's gorgeous. And very formal, which isn't me so much, so Mag it is.

Date: 2010-02-21 03:57 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] morethanseeing.livejournal.com
I see. ...I think. What kind of things would travel through time like that?

Oh, thank you. Mag is fine, that's what most everyone calls me.

51stcentury: (explaining smile)

Well, whatever gets caught up in a negative rift spike. Plants, creatures, technology. We even had a positive rift spike that turned out to be alien sand once. I mean, we have a rift manipulator, but that's just better left alone. The last time someone messed with that, the Rift started cracking apart at the seams.

Well, you can call me Jack. That's what most everyone calls me as well. Unless you're set on the Captain bit, that is. There are some who can't get around that formality.

((OOC Note: Fyi, Dee is having some relationship fail here, if Mag feels like counseling him in any way. :P))

I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions, I've just never heard of anything like you work before; feel free to tell me if I'm being nosy.

Jack it is, then. Good to meet you, Jack.

((Super!Mag is on her way for counsel-times :D))

People and things start falling through that should never have been here. From all sorts of times and places. We had the black plague in our hospitals, crusaders in the center of town, Sycorax war ships flying over the council. It was a mess. We fixed it, in the end, but there was a price.

It's not too many questions. I've just convinced myself that it finally doesn't take an interrogation of someone before I figure out they won't come and invade if they know about what we do. You should consider yourself lucky. You get to hear about our little operation as much as you like.
